CHARACTERISTICS OF HONEY IN HONEYCOMB

The honeycomb with honey is one of the structures of the hive, made of hexagonal prismatic cells, full of unextracted honey.

Honey-filled honeycomb has different properties:

  • Antioxidant: honey with honeycomb has more content in phenolic compounds, flavonoids and antioxidants than normal honey. It helps to preserve human cells in a good state and avoids damage associated with cellular aging.
  • Extra nutritional contribution: honey, propolis, pollen and wax are found together in the same food, which means an extra contribution of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and amino acids, among others, with respect to the consumption of honey without honeycomb.
  • Purity: it is difficult to find on the market a purer and more natural product than honeycomb, without processing and without any treatment other than being cut and packaged.

How is honey in honeycomb eaten?

The way to eat fresh honey is very simple. The most common is to cut a piece of honeycomb and chew it as if it were chewing gum until you have extracted all the honey. Finally, we advise you to chew the wax for a few seconds and then spit it out. However, if you would like to, you can swallow the wax, as it is edible, although it is not habitual nor is it very advisable for delicate stomachs.
