CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROPOLIS
Propolis is a waxy resin with a complex composition and viscous consistency. Bees produce it from vegetable matter and use it to protect and maintain the beehive.
It has been valued since ancient times for its distinctive properties and continues to be appreciated in various applications today.
Bees rely on propolis to reinforce and safeguard their hive, contributing to its remarkable cleanliness and protection.
Propolis is collected in different ways. The grid design, for example, is the least aggressive for bees and the one that offers the highest quality. In Avi Lluís all the propolis that we produce is extracted directly from the grids.
Propolis contains essential oils that contribute to its distinctive aroma. Its color ranges from yellow to dark, influenced by its botanical origin and the time of collection. It has a naturally bitter taste, and its consistency can vary from firm to pliable.
