Characteristics of forest honey
It is called forest honey because of its origin. In contrast to other honeys it doesn’t come from nectar of flowers. It is produced by separation between acorns, leaves and holm oak tree.
It has a dark colour, nearly black and a strog aroma.
Honey production
We produce it in pre-Pirineu mountains area and in the northern part of Demanda mountain range (La Rioja) during summer season. It is a liquid honey, almost without cristallysation, but it has a powerful scent with a peculiar taste; sweet with salty notes.
Beneficial health properties
Forest honey is good to calm cough. It also works as a diuretic that helps to avoid fluid retention and we can use it against rheumatic complaints. Forest honey has an elevated amount of fructose, it means that people with diabetes need an authorization from their doctor.
How to consume it
Because of its intense flavour ans its salty notes this honey combines perfectly with meat sauces, dry and fresh cheeses and vinaigrettes.
We have 10 and 20 kg buckets and 300 kg large cans.
